Briefer on his Achievements:

 

        As a military man and a a retired colonel, Cong. Jose G. Solis had 20 military decorations, awards and commendations, two of which recognized his patriotism as a combat engineer in the Vietnam War and a meritorious stint with the Presidential Security Command, from President Diosdado Macapagal down to the Late President Corazon Aquino.

 

        Congressman Solis distinguished himself in 12 official positions in the government and professional service, notably as Administrator of the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. With his soft heart to infrastructure projects being a civil engineer, he relentlessly and effectively pursued fund raising for the construction of roads and bridges, farm-to-market roads, school buildings, energization of barangays, water impounding system, to name a few. He made it a point to equitably allocate funds to all nine municipalities in his district. To date, he has sourced billions for vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects alone, an unprecedented accomplishment in his district. This amount translates into 76.53 kilometers of roads, 80 linear meters of bridges, 172 classrooms, 284 barangays energized among others.

 

        Other major projects was aggressively pursued with initial funding already sourced are the Bulan Airport and the Bicol Railway Rehabilitation project with extension from Albay province to Matnog, Sorsogon, the Southern tip of Luzon.  

 

        As a legislator, Cong. Solis is now on his third and last term. He chaired the Special Committee on Rail Transportation during the security on his term (13th Congress) was also the Chairman of the Special Committee on Bicol Growth Area (14th Congress)

      

        On his seventh year as Representative of the 2nd District of Sorsogon, Cong. Solis has already three (3) Republic Acts to his credit as the principal author namely; 1) RA 9365, 2) RA09188 as amended by HB 2515 and 3) RA 09234 as amended by HB4519. He also co-authored twenty two Republic Acts.

 

        On House Bills, Cong. Solis has authored a total of eighty six (86) with ten (10) as the co-author and fourteen (14) House Resolutions as Principal author.

 

        With his outstanding performance in the House of Representatives, Congressman Solis is a proud recipient of the following awards and recognition.
